Bridge and Structural Engineering

 

  • Detailed condition survey and assessment of the adequacy of the existing bridge structures at each location in terms of the waterways:
  • Carrying out Non-Destructive tests by using Profometer/Rebar Tests and Rebound Hammer Tests to establish materials parameters due to missing information;
  • General assessment for compliance of the new improved road standards and specifications, with recommendations for replacement or remedial of bridge structures;
  • Carrying out Capacity Rating to related codes of National countries such as BS 5400 and Related Eurocodes with reference to UK National Annexes, etc. Load carrying capacity of the following Bridges along with above earmarked tasks:
  • Similar assessment Box Culverts of various sizes in either singles, Doubles to multiple cells of those sizes;
  • Carrying out Condition Survey of over various lines and sizes of RCC Concrete Pipes, with diameters in the range such as 600mm to 1500mm & Corrugated Metal Pipes with diameters in the range of such as 600mm to 4700mm, and recommending maintenance measures where applicable but dominantly recommend for new replacements and designing them in view of Hydrological Surveys and Hydraulic capacities;
  • Carrying out Detailed Engineering design to compliance of required national/Countries codes of practices such as BS 5400 and Related Eurocodes with reference to UK National Annexes, etc. for all New Bridges of various types such as RCC-T Beam Bridges, Steel Composite Bridges (SCB) and Post Tensioned Beams to compliances in various sizes of Carriageways of Roads depending on country standards and traffic studies;
  • Detailed design of Major Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts in singles and multiple cells with various heights of fills on top to compliance of national/countries codes;
  • Carried out Cost estimates for all drainage Structures’ rehabilitation and new constructions for Bridges, Box Culverts and Pipe Culverts.

  • SUPERVISION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS AND QUALITY CONTROL

 

  • Issue Orders to Commence Works and Handover Sites to Contractors
  • Prepare Quality Assurance Plans
  • Prepare Control Charts, Project Master Schedule and Establish Computer Aided Project Management System and Management Information System;
  • Review and Regular Checks of Contractor’s Mobilization Plans;
  • Check / Approve Contractor’s Setting Out of Works;
  • Laboratory and Field Testing of Contractor’s Work, Materials and Products to ensure Quality as per the Works Contract;
  • Review and Approval of the Method Statements of the Contractor;
  • Supervise Construction Works and Stage Approvals
  • Supervise Quality Control Measures;
  • Approve Job Mix Designs for Cement Concrete and Cemented Materials
  • Order Removal / Rectification of Substandard Works and Improper Materials;
  • Prepare Incident Reports and Taking Appropriate Follow on Actions;
  • Undertake Value Engineering Reviews;
  • Identify and mark all utilities with the help of the competent authorities and assist the Clients in effecting the removal/relocation (where necessary) of utilities within the right of way
  • Liaise with the Client’s representative and respective local Authorities to ensure that the assessment and compensation of properties such as crops and buildings if any within the right of ways is done before the contractor is given possession of site.

 

  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND COST CONTROL

 

  • Regular Advice to Employer’s Representative for Timely Completion of Works Contract in Cost Effective Manner
  • Issue of Engineering Drawings, Technical Specifications and Contract Documents and Provide Necessary Supplementary Information
  • Review and Approve Contractor’s Work Program
  • Carry out Amendments in Designs and Documents and Issue New Drawings
  • Review / Approve Contractor’s Proposed Working Drawings / Plans
  • Review / Approve Contractor’s Key Personnel
  • Prepare and Submission of Disbursement Schedule for Approval
  • Inspect Contractor’s Plants, Machinery and Laboratory Equipment
  • Inspect Contractor’s Installations, Shops, Warehouses, other Accommodation and Medical Facilities
  • Facilitate in Implementation of an Alleviation Program in respect of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) including HIV/AIDS
  • Check and Verify Validity of all Contractor’s Insurance / Performance Security as per Works Contract
  • Ensure Public and Site Safety including Traffic Management
  • Regular Review of Bill of Quantities and Advise for Additional Funding
  • Check and Verify Measurement of Works during Progress and on Final Inspection of Completed Works
  • Prepare Interim and Final Payment Certificates and Monitor the Payment Process
  • Photography of all Salient Project Features
  • Negotiation of Unit Rates for New Items of Works with Contractor
  • Record, Examine and Evaluate Contractor’s Claims including Extension of Time
  • Prepare and Issue Engineer’s Instructions (EI), Variation Orders (VO) as per Provisions of Works Contract
  • Carry out Inspection on Completion and Issue of ‘Taking Over Certificates’
  • Provide Co-ordination with Different Agencies
  • Advise / Assist the Employer and Employer’s Representative in Adjudication / Arbitration
  • Provide Additional Services
